Cone 5 Vase

The name is a potter's reference, cone 5 being a mid-range kiln temperature, and the shape follows that cue. It tapers the way a thrown studio vessel does, wide through the body and drawn in towards the mouth, reading as something from a ceramics bench rather than a machine shop. It is a decorative object first. It belongs on a mantelpiece, a windowsill, a hall table or an open shelf, either standing empty as a piece of sculpture or filled with dried stems, grasses or pampas. Scaled up or down before printing it changes character completely, from a small desk piece to a floor-standing shape with real presence in a corner.
