A vase that looks like it was scaled by a sleeping dragon. The silhouette is a curvy hourglass: a flared trumpet mouth narrows to a pinched waist and then swells into a rounded, hippy base. Wrapping the entire body is a dense field of raised, quilted bumps set in tilting diagonal rows, so the surface reads as overlapping scales, a pinecone, or rows of soft pillows depending on the light. Printed here in a plain matte grey, every ridge and hollow shows off the texture without any paint at all. It is a spiralised, single-wall vase-mode print, which is exactly why the walls flow so smoothly and the scales stay continuous. Fill it with dried grasses, pampas, faux stems or fairy lights for instant shelf or mantel decor, or press it into service as a chunky pen pot or utensil holder on a desk or worktop. Print notes • Run in vase / spiralise outer contour mode, single perimeter, zero top layers, three or four solid bottom layers • PLA is fine for dry display; PETG if you want more warmth tolerance near a window • A 0.4mm nozzle captures the scale texture; a slightly larger nozzle and layer height speeds it up and beefs up the walls • Single-wall prints are not reliably watertight, so use a slim glass tube or plastic liner inside for fresh flowers, or keep it to dry arrangements
