Face Vase 01

Vessels with a human face worked into their form have been a boutique-shop staple for years, and this is the first entry in a numbered series in that tradition. The face is treated as sculpture rather than portraiture, a suggestion of brow, nose and lips rising out of the body of the vase instead of a likeness of anyone in particular. That restraint is what makes it usable. It holds its own on a hallway console, a windowsill or a bedroom shelf without turning the room into a gallery, and dried stems or anything with a bit of height play off the vertical line of the profile.
