Spooky Skeleton Shaped Vase

Part vessel, part Halloween ornament. The body here is worked into a skeletal figure, so what would normally be a smooth swelling curve instead reads as ribs, hollows and bone. It is the sort of piece that looks deliberately out of place on a shelf in July and entirely at home from late October onwards. Standing dried stems, bleached grasses, twigs or pampas in it turns it into a centrepiece for a Halloween table. Left empty it holds its own as a sculptural object, which is more than most seasonal decorations manage once the night itself has passed. It is aimed at makers who print for autumn, at anyone building a gothic or curiosity-cabinet corner at home, and at market sellers after a Halloween line that is not another pumpkin and not another ghost.
