Description

Vase #329 is one entry in a long numbered run of decorative vessels, its catalogue number standing in for a name. The form is a single continuous surface wound from base to rim, the sort of spiralling, seam-free shape that vase-mode printing was made for, where the rising bands become part of the pattern rather than something to hide. It is a piece meant to be seen from every side, shifting through its profile as you move past a shelf or a windowsill. Left empty it works as a sculptural object; filled with dried stems or a few faux blooms it earns its keep as a proper vase. The numbered-series conceit gives it a quietly collectible character — one shape among many siblings, each a variation on the same idea, this one carrying its own particular curve.
