Voronoi Vase

Scatter points across a surface, let each one claim the space nearest to it, and you get a Voronoi tessellation: an irregular web of cells that never quite repeats. Wrapped around a vessel, that piece of maths stops looking computational and starts looking grown, closer to coral or a dried seed pod than anything drawn with a ruler. That cellwork is the whole subject here. The gaps do as much work as the material, so the piece reads best with something behind it to fill them, a windowsill, a lamp, a pale wall. It sits well with dried stems and grasses, or stands empty as a purely sculptural object on a shelf. A staple for anyone who likes generative and parametric geometry made physical, and an easy way to put a bit of organic structure into a room full of straight lines.
