ZYYX Vase

Decorative vessels do a quiet job in a room. They give a flat surface something vertical to argue with, and they carry a shape you notice once and then live with happily. This is a contemporary standing vase in that tradition, an ornament first and a container second, at home on a mantelpiece, a hallway console, a windowsill or a bookshelf with an awkward gap in it. Dried stems, grasses or a few pampas heads turn it into the anchor of a corner arrangement; left empty it reads as shelf sculpture. Run off two or three and you have a grouping, which is how vases like this tend to look best.
