Monkey Cookiecutter

A monkey is one of the few animals that reads instantly in outline: round head, wide-set ears, a face you can pick out from across the table. That makes it a sensible subject for a cutter, where the shape has to survive being pressed into dough and lifted away again. This one is aimed squarely at baking with children, whether that is a jungle-themed birthday, an afternoon in the kitchen after a trip to the zoo, or a school bake sale that needs something better than plain rounds. The same outline does the job on fondant and sugarpaste if you are decorating rather than baking, and plenty of households never take it near an oven at all, using it purely for playdough. Keep one in the drawer and it earns its place every time someone under ten asks to help with the mixing.
