Description
The sculpted core of a butterfly, waiting for its wings. "Cuerpo Mariposa" is Spanish for butterfly body, and that is exactly what this piece is: the smooth central armature of a decorative butterfly rather than a finished figure. A rounded bead head leads into a plump thorax and a long, gently segmented abdomen that tapers to a fine point. Two slender antennae curve back from the head, and a short cylindrical peg juts out from the underside of the body, clearly meant as the anchor point where a pair of separately printed or cut wings clip on. As a household accent it is designed to be built up and displayed, on a shelf, a windowsill, pinned into a foliage arrangement, or fixed to a wall as part of a larger butterfly cluster. Left plain it also reads as a minimalist, almost abstract organic object in its own right. Print notes • Orient the body lengthways and print with supports under the antennae and the cross peg, which are the main overhangs. • Resin gives the cleanest bead head and antennae; FDM works well at 0.12mm layers with careful support placement. • The peg is the load-bearing joint, so print it solid or with high infill and test-fit your wings before gluing. • A light sand along the abdomen removes layer lines before painting in metallics or naturalistic tones.
