Description

A flat-pack crate that unfolds from a single hexagonal print. Straight off the bed this piece lies flat as a wheel of six triangular honeycomb panels around a solid hex base, joined by print-in-place living hinges. Fold the walls up and they meet into a shallow open-topped tray with a hexagon footprint and airy honeycomb sides, no screws, no glue, no assembly. It is a tidy little catch-all for a hallway console, bathroom shelf or desk: keys, rings, charging cables, hair ties, dice, and the small bits and bobs that migrate around the house. The lattice walls keep it light and let you see what is inside, and because it collapses flat it stores or ships in almost no space. The clean, minimalist geometry sits well in a modern home. Print notes • Print flat in one piece; the hinges are the critical feature, so a slightly warmer hinge temperature and solid bed adhesion help them survive the first fold. • PLA or PETG both work; PETG gives tougher, longer-lived hinges if you will fold it often. • No supports needed, everything prints on the plate. • Flex each hinge gently a few times right after printing while it is still slightly warm to free it up. A bright colour turns it into a feature piece rather than something to hide.
