Description

A desk tidy that looks like it was caught mid-spin and frozen. This pen holder is a squat, open-topped cylinder woven from angled ribs that corkscrew around the body, so the whole pot appears to twist like a slow green tornado. The gaps between the slats let you see clean through to your pens inside, and the helical geometry throws a different shadow from every angle you turn it. It isn't just the pot, either. The download bundles a chunky interlocking base (jigsawbase and doublebase) whose puzzle-cut edges clip to matching tiles, plus a matched pair of left and right helical gears you can mount alongside as a small kinetic flourish that actually meshes and turns. Drop it on a studio desk, a workshop bench or a shelf to corral pens, brushes, screwdrivers, chopsticks or scissors. Even empty, the spiral shell earns its footprint as a bit of desk sculpture. Print notes • The twisting outer shell suits vase/spiralise mode, or run 3 perimeters in standard mode for a sturdier pot. • Print the cylinder upright on its flat base; the diagonal ribs are shallow enough to bridge without supports in most slicers. • Give the helical gears a touch of clearance: print at 100% first, test the mesh, then adjust if the teeth bind. • PLA or PETG both behave well here, and a matte filament hides layer lines along those diagonal ribs a treat.
