The design takes its cue from a ringed world — a sphere with a broad band cutting across it on the tilt — and builds the resting ledge into the ring itself, so the structural part of the object is also the decorative part rather than something bolted on behind. Phone stands are among the most reprinted objects in the whole hobby, for the obvious reason that everybody owns a handset and nobody enjoys propping one against a mug. What separates one from another is whether it is worth looking at while empty, which is most of the day. This one is: it reads as an ornament that happens to have a job.
