Description
The Saturn V was the launch vehicle that carried Apollo crews to the Moon, and this captures it at the moment of ignition: the three-stage stack still upright on the pad, the roll-pattern markings modelled into the surface, and the exhaust bloom spreading out beneath it to form the base. Built as a lit display piece rather than a static rocket, the plume is the part doing the real work. It is a diffusing form that turns the whole assembly into a small and rather dramatic glow once the room goes dark, which is the trick of a launch photograph translated into something that will stand on a shelf. It comes as a multi-part build and is aimed squarely at the space-history crowd: anyone who has sat through the Apollo 11 flight transcripts, or who simply likes the profile of the most recognisable rocket ever flown.
