Description

A pocket toothbrush case that snaps shut on a printed spring. This is an engineered, multi-part assembly rather than a single shell. Eight STL files combine into a hinged travel case whose lid is driven by a printed torsion-spring mechanism, so it clicks positively open and closed and keeps the brush head enclosed and hygienic between uses. The parts list alone tells the story: spring plates, torsion-spring winding blocks, a mechanism plate, a cantilever hinge with a spring-loaded arm and a follower, a retaining clip and a lid latch. This is a proper little machine. The render here shows one of those internals: a curved lever arm with a toothed ratchet sector at its pivot and a fixing hole at the tail, the follower that transfers the spring's push into the lid. Print notes • Print in PLA or PETG; PETG gives the springs and living pivots noticeably better fatigue life. • Watch orientation on the sprung parts. Lay the arms and spring plates flat so the layer lines run across the bend, not along it, or they will delaminate. • Dial in tolerances with a test of the hinge before committing to the full set; a hair of clearance keeps the ratchet free. • Lightly sand the mating faces, then assemble. No glue is needed on the moving joints.
