Texture Test Cube

Surface pattern is hard to judge from a screen. A rendered preview flattens everything out, and a texture that looks sharp on the monitor can read as mush once it is sitting in your hand. This cube exists to settle the question, a compact block given over to worked surface texture across its faces so you can turn it over under a lamp and see how the pattern really behaves. It is the kind of reference object that saves a wasted evening. Judge the texture small first, then commit to the full-size piece, whether that is a planter, a shade or a wall panel, knowing what you are actually going to get. There is a second life in it too, as a desk object. A small textured cube beside a monitor or on a shelf reads as deliberate rather than as leftover test material, which is more than can be said for most calibration prints.
