Description

A miniature of Istanbul's great imperial mosque, six minarets and all. This model recreates the unmistakable silhouette of the Sultan Ahmet (Blue Mosque): a broad prayer hall crowned by a central dome that steps down through a cascade of smaller semi-domes and half-domes, flanked by six slender pencil minarets that taper to sharp spires. Out front sits a colonnaded courtyard ringed with arched galleries and its own row of capped domes, the whole complex seated on a clean rectangular podium. It makes a natural centrepiece for a Middle-Eastern or Ottoman diorama, a world-landmarks study shelf, an objective marker on a wargaming table, or an educational architecture model. The massing reads clearly even when shrunk right down, so it works from N-gauge railway backdrops up to a chunky desk display. Print notes: • Print the mosque body flat on the base with no supports; the domes are self-supporting up to their crowns. • The six minarets are the fragile parts. Print them separately upright, or thicken/scale them up if your nozzle struggles with the fine spires, and add brims so they stay put. • 0.12-0.16 mm layers keep the arched arcades crisp; a pale grey or stone filament shows the tiered domes off best. • Scale to taste. It holds detail down to roughly 100 mm long and looks genuinely monumental at 200 mm and above.
