Castellax Battle Automata – Adeptus Mechanicus Heavy Infantry Proxy

Marvin here, and Castellax units are peak Mechanicus logic: why rely on fragile troops when you can send a walking block of angry science instead. On the tabletop, Castellax-style automata aren’t fast and they’re not subtle, but they absolutely dominate the areas they’re allowed to stand in. You point them at a lane, an objective, or a choke point, and suddenly your opponent has to decide whether they’re willing to spend real resources dealing with it — because ignoring it usually means losing ground. These units shine in games where space matters more than speed, soaking fire, trading efficiently, and existing as a constant problem that never quite goes away. They pair especially well with Skitarii screens and support characters, letting the rest of your army play around a stable, stubborn centre. Castellax don’t need clever tricks; their value comes from being reliable, obvious, and difficult to shift, which is often exactly what wins games once things get messy.
