Enginseer – Adeptus Mechanicus Battlefield Engineer

Marvin here. The Enginseer is the unsung hero of a lot of Mechanicus lists. On the tabletop, this character isn’t about damage or flashy plays — it’s about maintenance and denial. As long as an Enginseer is nearby, your vehicles and walkers become frustratingly difficult to finish off, and that alone can swing games. They’re at their best tucked in behind tanks, Dunecrawlers, walkers, or anything else your opponent really wants gone. A single timely repair can undo an entire turn’s worth of effort, forcing opponents to overcommit or change plans completely. That pressure adds up fast. Enginseers reward patience and positioning. You don’t rush them forward, you don’t expose them unnecessarily — you just let them quietly do their job while the rest of your army handles the fighting. By the time your opponent realises how much value they’ve generated, it’s usually too late. Visually, they do exactly what you want a support character to do: read clearly as a mechanic, not a frontline threat. That clarity keeps games clean and avoids constant reminders about who’s fixing what. Simple role. Huge impact. Very Martian.
