Grundtvig

Grundtvig's Church, rebuilt in miniature, the great brick organ of Copenhagen. This scale model captures the unmistakable west front of Grundtvigs Kirke: a towering stepped gable that rises in ranked vertical piers exactly like the pipes of a cathedral organ, crowned with pinnacled steps and pierced by a small rose window. The blocky, stepped massing and the ribbed, upward-driving lines are pure Danish Expressionism, and even in plain grey the building's stern, soaring character comes through. It is a piece for the diorama builder, the architecture collector or the model-railway landscaper who wants a genuine landmark rather than a generic church on the layout. Print notes: • Stand it upright on its baseplate and print as-is; the stepped gables self-support at their shallow angles, so you can often skip supports across the main facade. • Print at a fine layer height, because the vertical ribbing is the whole point and coarse layers blur it. • Scale to suit the job: shrink it for N or OO/HO railway scenery, or enlarge it for a desk monument. • Uplight it from the base, or wash it with a thin grey-brown to bring out the brick coursing.
