Hotel

A pocket-sized city block that drops instant urban scale onto any layout. This model captures a squat, five-storey commercial building — the kind of mid-century hotel or downtown office that fills the gaps between grander landmarks. Row after row of tall, narrow windows marches across the main facade, separated by slender vertical mullions that run the full height of the block for that ribbed, curtain-wall rhythm. The top floor steps back slightly beneath a softly curved barrel roof, and the whole structure sits on a stepped rectangular plinth that reads as pavement and kerb. It is built for model-railway townscapes, wargaming streets and architectural dioramas, where it can stand alone as a corner hotel or be repeated down a block to build a convincing skyline. Paint it in weathered concrete and glass, or a warm terracotta brick, and it slots into eras from the 1950s onward. Print notes • Print upright on the base — the facade needs no supports in that orientation. • The mullions are fine: a 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.12 mm layers keeps them crisp; go finer with resin. • Scale to N, OO/HO or Z straight from the slicer; hollow the walls to save filament on larger prints. • The curved roof overhang benefits from a few light supports or a raised brim.
