Imperial Fists Company Ancient

Every company keeps one warrior whose duty is not to kill but to be seen. The Ancient carries the standard, a heavy pole hung with seals and parchment, and his job is to hold it upright while everything around him comes apart. Armoured as a veteran and posed to plant the banner rather than swing a weapon, he gives a squad of otherwise near-identical infantry an obvious focal point. The Chapter he serves is remembered for siegecraft and stubborn defensive war, warriors who dig in, hold a wall and win by declining to move, and that temperament suits a banner bearer better than most. This is a multi-part character kit at tabletop wargaming scale, aimed at players assembling a command element. The broad flat sweep of the banner is also the best excuse a freehand painter is likely to get.
