Description
Fort Wayne's Art Deco landmark, raised at the turn of the 1930s in the years when American banks built towers to prove they were solid. The style is entirely of its moment: stepped setbacks climbing towards a crown, vertical piers running the full height to stretch the eye upwards, and the ornament concentrated where the street can actually see it. For modellers it is a useful building to own. A period commercial tower anchors a skyline, whether that is a small-scale downtown on a railway layout, a diorama built around a 1930s street or a single display piece for somebody with a connection to Indiana. Architectural models also sell to people who have never picked up a paintbrush. They want the building because they worked in it, married near it or grew up looking at it from the pavement.
