Maritime Exchange Building

A stepped Art Deco tower that rises like a slice of miniature Manhattan. This is a tall commercial high-rise modelled with the classic setback silhouette of an early-twentieth-century skyscraper: a broad base that tapers through a run of tiered shoulders to a slim, crowned summit. Every face is packed with regimented rows of recessed windows, and a deep vertical entrance recess splits the lower storeys, so the block reads with real depth rather than as a flat printed facade. It is built for diorama makers, wargamers and model-railway scenics who need a convincing downtown block. At N or T gauge it sits as a financial-district tower; scaled up it works as the centrepiece of a modern or interwar cityscape, and the flat roof tiers are ideal for adding aerials, water tanks or a helipad. Print notes • Prints upright with no supports on the window walls; the crisp mullions come out best from a 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.12–0.16 mm layers. • Hollow it with 2–3 perimeters and light infill to save filament on a model this tall. • Grey resin or matte PLA takes drybrushing and panel-line washes beautifully for a weathered concrete-and-glass look. • If your bed height is limited, slice it into horizontal sections at the setbacks — they give you natural, hideable seam lines.
