The Dubai skyline in miniature — the sail that catches the Creek's light. This model recreates the National Bank of Dubai headquarters, one of the city's most recognisable towers, with its great curved glass facade sweeping upward like a billowing dhow sail. The ribbed convex screen is captured in fine horizontal banding, cantilevered off a slab-sided core and seated on a stepped podium and plaza base that grounds the whole composition. At model-railway or diorama scale it drops straight into a modern cityscape, an architectural study set, or a desk piece for anyone with ties to the UAE. Architecture students and collectors of landmark buildings will appreciate how the asymmetry of the sail against the rectilinear tower still reads clearly at small sizes. Print notes • Print the curved facade vertically so the horizontal ribs step cleanly layer by layer; 0.12–0.16mm keeps them sharp. • The overhanging plaza slabs at the base benefit from light tree supports. • FDM in grey or white PLA gives a clean concrete-and-glass look; go resin if you want crisp rib definition on a small print. • Sand the broad flat core faces and prime before painting the glazing in a smoked bronze for realism.
