One North Lasalle

A slice of the classic American skyline shrunk to tabletop size. This is a scale model of a stepped Art Deco skyscraper — the kind of early-twentieth-century tower that climbs in setbacks, each tier stepping inward as it rises toward a squared-off crown. The mesh captures the ordered rhythm of the façade: tall vertical piers, regular bands of windows running floor to floor, and a broader base block that anchors the tower to the street. It is shown here as a plain grey render so you can read the massing clearly. It is made for model railways, city dioramas, wargaming boards and architectural study models. Drop it into an N- or HO-scale layout and it instantly gives a downtown a sense of height and period. Print notes: • Prints upright with no supports — the walls are vertical and the setbacks self-support. • Use a low layer height (0.12–0.16mm) so the window mullions stay crisp at small scale. • FDM in grey or white PLA is ideal; prime and paint with a limestone or concrete tone plus a darker wash to pop the window recesses. • If your bed is too short for the full height, slice it at a setback line and print the tower in two stacking sections — the tiers hide the join. Scale it up or down to match whatever gauge your layout runs, from tiny background filler to a hero centrepiece building.
