Plague marines

Rot with a rank structure. These are the corrupted heavy infantry of a grimdark far future: former legionaries whose battle plate has split and swollen around whatever is now inside it, patched with scavenged sheet and given over entirely to a god of decay and pestilence. What makes them a favourite with painters is that ruin rewards technique in a way polished armour never does. Corrosion, grime, sagging flesh and blistered ceramite all give the brush somewhere to go, and a squad of them can absorb as much or as little work as you feel like putting in. Supplied as a multi-part kit, this is opposition built for slow, implacable advance rather than speed, which makes it useful for narrative campaigns where the enemy is meant to feel inevitable. Anyone fielding a pestilence-aligned force, or just after some genuinely unpleasant models for the display cabinet, will know what they are looking at.
