Rough Riders

Every mechanised army eventually runs into the regiment that never gave up its horses. Rough Riders are raised on frontier and feral worlds where riding came long before conscription, and the Imperium, never one to waste a useful habit, hands them explosive hunting lances and points them at somebody's flank. The tactic is brutally simple. Ride hard, spend the lances on the first target worth killing, then carry on with sidearms and whatever the survivors still have. They are not there to hold ground. They are there to arrive somewhere inconvenient, very quickly, while the enemy is still planning for tanks. It comes as a multi-part kit, which is what a unit like this needs: enough to field a squadron without the same silhouette repeating across the movement tray. A natural proxy for Astra Militarum cavalry, and at home in any 28mm setting that wants light horse.
