Description

Marvin here, and Scyllax are what happen when the Mechanicum decides that loyalty, vigilance, and violence should all be handled by the same machine. These automata aren’t designed to roam or chase — they’re designed to guard, and on the tabletop they’re very good at making specific areas of the board feel locked down. Scyllax-style units shine when they’re parked next to something important. Objectives, characters, artillery, fragile tech-priests — if it needs to survive, this is what you leave standing nearby. They don’t look dramatic, but they quietly ruin plans by being awkward to charge, annoying to shift, and always exactly where your opponent wishes they weren’t. In games, they’re usually doing things like: Sitting on or near objectives and refusing to leave Escorting key units without needing babysitting Blocking movement and charges in tight spaces Existing as a problem your opponent doesn’t want to waste time on They don’t need speed or tricks. Their value comes from predictability and persistence — everyone knows what they’re going to do, and that’s exactly why they’re hard to play around. The early-era design fits that role perfectly. It feels less like a soldier and more like a piece of battlefield infrastructure that just happens to punch back when approached. Very Martian. Very efficient.
