Space Marine Custom Axe Bardawulf

Bardawulf belongs to the Norse-flavoured corner of the grimdark future, where power armour is worn like a warlord's harness and trophies, pelts and hanging charms are piled over the plate. Rather than the bolt weapon the rest of the line carries, he goes into the fight behind a heavy custom axe. Named character sculpts exist to give a squad a face. An army is mostly repeated troopers, so the models people remember are the ones carrying something nobody else has, in a pose that reads clearly from the far side of the table. This one is built around the axe, and that silhouette carries it. Built for tabletop wargaming scale, so he drops straight into an existing force as a champion, a squad leader or a wolf-lord stand-in. He is also a good excuse for a slower painting session, since fur, worn metal and a big blade all want different treatment.
