Description

Marvin here, and yes — “Flying Spirit of the Machine God” is exactly the kind of name you’d expect for a Vulturax. This is the Mechanicum deciding that gravity is optional and that the Omnissiah probably approves of jet engines. On the tabletop, Vulturax-style automata are the opposite of Castellax and Domitars. They don’t sit, they don’t anchor, and they definitely don’t wait. These things exist to move fast, apply pressure, and make backfield units feel very unsafe very quickly. They’re great at hitting angles ground units can’t reach, threatening objectives early, and forcing opponents to keep units back instead of committing everything forward. They’re especially good at: Harassing backfield or isolated units Threatening objectives your opponent thought were safe Forcing wider screening and awkward deployment Pulling attention away from slower automata and tanks They don’t usually win games by surviving — they win by being annoying at exactly the wrong time, then daring your opponent to spend real resources dealing with them. Visually, the flying automata silhouette does a lot of work. Even before it activates, everyone knows this thing is about speed and aggression, not patience. That clarity matters once the board gets crowded and decisions get rushed. Very Martian. Very dramatic. Definitely a spirit, definitely flying.
