Description
A slice of turn-of-the-century downtown you can hold in one hand. This model is a tall commercial tower in the early-skyscraper, Beaux-Arts idiom: a slender rectangular shaft climbing a dozen-plus storeys of tightly ranked rectangular windows, split into vertical bays by faint pilaster lines. Cornice bands mark off a two-storey base, the main office block and an ornate crown. That crown is the star of the piece — a deep mansard-style top pierced with round-arched dormer windows and edged with a parapet of little spiked finials, giving the whole tower the silhouette of a grand old bank or newspaper headquarters. The ground floor sits on a heavier plinth with arched shopfront openings, so it reads convincingly at eye level. It is built for HO/OO and N-scale layouts, city dioramas and tabletop urban gaming boards, where a landmark high-rise anchors a street corner. Freestanding on a shelf it also works as a miniature architectural study. Print notes • Print vertically as modelled; the flat base gives a stable footprint and no raft is needed. • The recessed window grid captures a wash beautifully — print at 0.12–0.16mm layers so the mullions stay crisp. • Fine cornice and finial detail benefits from a 0.4mm nozzle and light supports only under the topmost overhangs. • Scale down for N-gauge or up for a diorama centrepiece; walls are solid so it takes a stone or aged-render paint scheme readily.
