Aladdin Magic Lamp

The profile is one long curve. The spout begins low, almost at the surface it sits on, sweeps up the full length of the body and finishes in a small upturned lip, while the belly swells behind it and settles onto a flat resting underside. Dense scrollwork wraps the lower half, tight repeating floral curls that stop short of the smooth upper shoulder so the ornament stays below the waistline. Short radiating strokes fan out around the collar of the filling hole on top, and the handle behind curls up and back on itself, with bands of engraved lettering carried across the loop. Proportions are the storybook ones rather than the archaeological ones: the spout is exaggerated, the body generous, the handle turned high and standing well clear of the shoulder.
