Lamp Post Lamplighter

A gas lamp, a ladder, and the man who lit the city at dusk. This is a storytelling piece: a Victorian lamplighter frozen at work beside a tall, ornate street lamp. The column is full of period detail — a fluted shaft rising from a moulded base to a boxy, glass-paned lantern head topped with a finial. A slim ladder is propped against it, and the lamplighter himself leans in, cap on, one hand reaching up toward the lantern while his long lighting pole cuts across the scene. In the render the whole vignette is lying on its side, but it's built to stand upright as a lamp-post tableau. It's aimed at diorama builders, model-railway and village-scene makers, and collectors of nostalgic street furniture. Grouped with a cobblestone base and a few figures it conjures a gas-lit Dickensian street; on its own it's a characterful mantel or bookshelf ornament. Print notes • There's a lot of thin, delicate spanning here — the pole, the ladder rungs, the lantern frame — so print the post, figure and ladder as separate parts where you can and assemble afterwards. • Resin is strongly recommended for crisp faces, clean rungs and the lantern's glazing bars; FDM will fight the finest rods. • Support the outstretched pole and any overhanging arms, and keep the lantern head oriented to protect its openwork. • Match the scale to your layout (OO/HO, 28mm and so on) before slicing.
