Description
Two very different lattices meet in the middle of this one. The cap is pierced with irregular voronoi cells, thick-walled and unevenly sized, no two of them alike. The underside carries something else entirely: a dense fan of fine gill ribs that starts as a tight rosette at the centre and stretches outward as it follows the stem. The stem does not stand upright. It swings away from the cap in a broad curve and opens at the far end into a mouth ringed with a fine repeating tooth pattern. The gill ribs twist as they travel along it, drawing the fan into a narrow waist before it widens again at the opening. Both ends are open, so the whole thing is a shell rather than a solid mass, and cap and stem run together as one continuous sweep rather than two stacked pieces.
