Description
Drop an LED inside and your desk gains its own little moon. This is a full spherical lunar globe, its surface stippled edge to edge with craters, ridges and the shallow basins of a mare or two. The pole-to-pole texture is genuine relief rather than a printed picture, so raking light throws real shadows across every impact ring — exactly what you want from a moon lamp. At the roughly ten-inch size suggested, it makes a proper statement piece rather than a trinket. Lit from within with a warm bulb or an RGB puck, the walls glow like weathered bone; left unlit it reads as a tidy astronomy ornament for a shelf, a classroom or a stargazer's bedside. It suits nurseries, reading nooks and anyone who likes their lighting soft and atmospheric. Print notes • Print in translucent or white PLA/PETG so light diffuses evenly; thin the walls to around 1.2-2mm for a soft, even glow. • Two hemispheres printed cup-up need no supports and give you easy access to fit an LED and cabling before gluing. • A spiralised single-wall (vase mode) print is an option for a seamless, fast shade if your slicer handles the closed top. • Sand the seam and give it a light matte coat to hide layer lines, and always use a cool LED source rather than a hot incandescent bulb.
