Description
Every printed lamp needs something to stand on, and that is what this is: the lower body of a lamp assembly, the section that meets the table with the shade and the fitting above it. It is the least glamorous element of a lit piece and the one that quietly decides whether the finished object looks designed or looks like a shade balanced on a box. A base does its work by not drawing attention. The form has to read as deliberate from across a room, give the piece some visual weight low down, and then get out of the way once the light is on. Worth having if you are assembling a printed lamp in sections, reworking one whose base never quite satisfied you, or building something for a bedside table, a hallway shelf or the corner of a desk where the light is atmosphere rather than illumination.
