Description
Iris blades are the overlapping leaves inside a camera aperture, and that is the geometry this lamp is built on — a ring of tapering blades sweeping around a central opening, each one lapping over the last so the whole thing reads as a slow spiral from above. This is the lower section of the design, the part that meets the table and carries the form upward. Lamps in this idiom want to be seen in the round, so a low shelf, a console or a bedside surface suits them better than a corner pressed against a wall. The appeal is mechanical rather than floral. It takes a shape from engineering — shutters, intakes, valve gates — and makes a domestic object out of it, which suits anyone whose taste runs to machined decor rather than cottage softness.
