Bougie Lamp

The name is simply the French word for candle, and the design follows it faithfully. This is a lamp built around the upright, tapering language of a candlestick rather than the wide drum of a conventional shade — slim through the body, the light held high, reading as a single vertical gesture on a windowsill, a mantelpiece or the end of a dining table. Candle-form lighting earns its place in rooms where a large shade would be overbearing. A matched pair either side of a hearth, one on a hall console, or a run of them down the centre of a table are all the same file printed more than once, which is precisely where making your own lighting beats buying it. Supplied as a single file, with a form clean enough to take a change of scale without losing its proportions.
