Brick Lamp

Brickwork seems an odd thing to want in a lamp until you see one lit. The staggered courses and recessed mortar lines give the surface somewhere for shadow to gather, so the shade stops being a smooth blank object and becomes something with texture and weight, closer to a fragment of wall than to a piece of homeware. That industrial character is the appeal. It tends to suit rooms that already have some rawness about them, whether that is a workshop corner, a study, a flat with exposed brick for it to echo, or a desk that could do with a light more interesting than another anonymous cylinder. It comes as a multi-part set, and it is aimed at anyone who would rather their lighting looked built than moulded.
