Chimney Back Lamp

The chimney is one of the oldest shapes in domestic lighting: the tapering sleeve that stood over a wick and turned a bare flame into something steady enough to read beside. This lamp takes that outline and rebuilds it around a modern bulb, a standing column that carries the light up through its body rather than throwing it flat across the room. It belongs on a bedside table, a hall console or the far corner of a desk, in the places where the job is atmosphere rather than task light. The upright form asks for very little surface, so it sits happily on narrow shelves and among books where a wide shade would crowd everything else out.
