Description

A half-timbered wall that turns a corner, straight out of a storybook village. This blue render shows the lower storey of a timber-framed (colombage) building — two wall panels meeting at a right angle, their heavy posts, rails and diagonal braces laid out in the classic Norman/Tudor pattern. You can pick out the mullioned window openings, the angled struts triangulating each bay, and a slimmer casement on the return wall. The infill panels are left open so you can back them with card, acetate "glass" or your own rendered plaster. It's an architectural component for scale model makers, wargamers and model-railway builders — the ground floor of a medieval French townhouse you can stack with matching upper storeys and a roof. Assembled into a street it lends that leaning, hand-hewn character old timber towns are loved for. Print notes • Print flat, one wall face down, so the frame members lie in-plane and need no supports. • A fine nozzle (0.4 mm or less) with 0.12–0.16 mm layers keeps the slender braces crisp. • The thin timbers are fragile off the bed — handle gently and glue the corner joint square with a jig. • Paint the frame dark brown and the recesses cream to make the timbering pop.
