Corps Gauche

The left half of a round brick tower, waiting to be joined to its twin. "Corps gauche" is French for "left body", and that is precisely what this is: one vertical half-shell of a cylindrical brick tower. The curved surface is built from hundreds of individually laid bricks in staggered courses that wrap all the way around the bend, with the mortar lines cut deep enough to catch paint later. A straight seam runs down the flat rear edge where the part mates cleanly to a matching right half, and a few displaced or missing bricks near the middle hint at age and weathering. It is shown here in flat blue so the brickwork geometry stands out. This is a modular scenery component rather than a finished object — ideal for tabletop wargaming towers, model-railway structures, fantasy dioramas, or, sealed and closed up, a rugged pen pot. Print notes • Print with the flat back face down on the bed; the vertical wall then rises with no supports needed. • A 0.4mm nozzle at 0.16–0.20mm layers renders the brick courses crisply; taller layers soften the mortar lines. • Pair two mirrored halves (left plus right) to build a full round tower, and stack copies for extra height. • Grey primer followed by a dark wash and dry-brushed highlights brings the masonry to life.
