Slade Wilson survives that translation better than most characters do, because he is recognisable in pure silhouette: the full-face mask, the single eye, the armoured plating and the blade, and no expression on show to soften any of it. He is a soldier first and a supervillain second, which is what makes him such a persistent problem for the Titans and for Batman, and the figure trades on exactly that. Nothing theatrical, nothing clownish, just a professional who happens to be pointed at heroes. On a shelf he slots in beside the comic figures most collections already run to, and for anyone assembling a row of antagonists he is one of the few who earned the spot through sheer competence.
