A little colonnade of pointed arches on turned pillars — architecture you can hold in your hand. The French name translates as “large window surround,” and that’s what this is: a miniature architectural set of Gothic ogival arches carried on stout turned baluster columns, all standing on a rounded platform base. Two arch openings frame a central pillar, giving it the look of an arcade, a cloister window, or the front of a small shrine. The forms are clean and blocky, made to read as stone even at model scale. It’s a versatile scenery piece: a window or portico surround for a diorama, a nativity-scene stable arcade, a backdrop for tabletop miniatures and RPG terrain, or a decorative frame for a shadow box. Set a figure beneath the arch and it instantly becomes a stage. Print notes • The arch apexes are the tricky bit — either lay the arches flat to print the curve support-free, or print upright and add a couple of supports at the crown of each opening. • Print the turned columns standing vertically for the roundest balusters; the round base can be printed separately and assembled for a cleaner underside. • FDM at 0.16–0.20mm is fine for terrain use; drop to 0.12mm or resin if you want crisp arch mouldings for a display shrine. • Prime and stone-wash it — a grey base coat with a dark wash sinks into the arch recesses and sells the masonry look.
