Escalier Bois

A wooden staircase in miniature — escalier bois, straight from the French. Stairs are one of the hardest things to fake convincingly in a scene: they set the scale of everything around them, and a badly proportioned flight will undo a diorama faster than almost anything else. This is drawn as traditional carpentry, the kind of timber flight found in a cottage, a workshop or an old period interior, so it reads as joinery rather than a generic ramp with steps cut into it. Useful for dolls' house builds, model railway scenery, architectural study models and tabletop terrain where a building needs an interior that makes sense. It comes as a single file, so there is nothing to assemble before it joins a scene — a ready-made element for modellers who would rather spend their time on the rest of the build.
