Finger 01 Lamp

First in a numbered run of sculptural lighting, this is a table lamp that behaves more like a small piece of sculpture than a fitting. The body rises as an upright, tapering column with a softly jointed, digit-like profile, which is where the name comes from. It is tall and narrow rather than broad, so it has the presence of an object you would put on a shelf on its own merits. That makes it a lamp for the edges of a room rather than the middle of a working desk. A bedside table, a hallway console, the corner of a sideboard, a shelf beside a reading chair: places where a low, quiet light is wanted in the evening and a conventional shade would look like furniture rather than decoration. It is supplied as a multi-part kit, and belongs in the hands of anyone furnishing a room with things they made themselves.
