Fire is a difficult thing to make still, and lamps that attempt it have to do the work with shape alone — curling tongues, twisting upward taper, the rising motion frozen at the moment it looks most alive. That is what this one is after: a lighting piece sculpted as flame, so the glow reads as something burning rather than something switched on. It has obvious appeal to fantasy and gaming households — braziers, torches and hearths are the visual furniture of that whole world — but it works equally as a bit of theatre on a mantelpiece, a landing or a bar shelf where a plain shade would be dull.
