Hive Cover

The skep — the coiled straw beehive of old cottage gardens — is a shape most people recognise long before they can name it. This cover borrows that silhouette for a lighting piece, a broad base narrowing through stacked, banded coils to a rounded crown, so the whole thing reads as a small sculptural dome rather than a plain shade. Banding is doing the real work. Ridged forms break a light source into layers instead of letting it wash out flat, which is what gives hive-shaped diffusers their settled, low-key glow.
