Italian Kiosk Scale Lamp

Every Italian town has one on a corner: the edicola, a small shuttered booth stacked with newspapers and magazines, run by somebody who has held that pitch for thirty years. This model turns that piece of street furniture into a lamp, so a fixture that is already a box of light at dusk becomes one on a table. That is why the subject works. A kiosk at night reads as a bright rectangle in a dark street, framed by a pitched roof and an overhanging awning, and those hard architectural edges give the light something to break against rather than diffusing into a soft blur. Eight files make it a multi-part kit. Diorama builders and model railway modellers will see the obvious use, but it stands alone perfectly well as a night light with rather more character than a printed cube or cylinder.
