Description
Named for the variant that does away with the hanging flex and chain, this is a lamp meant to stand on its own rather than drop from a ceiling rose. Body and shade are conceived as one sculptural form, so it reads as an object first and a light fitting second. It belongs on a side table, a hall shelf or the far end of a desk — somewhere a soft pool of light is more useful than overhead brightness. Unlit it still has presence, which is rather the point of printing a lamp instead of buying one: the shape is your decision, not a manufacturer's. The download comes as two files, so it makes a sensible starting point for anyone building up a set of printed home lighting to carry across rooms. Lamps are one of the few printed objects that get used every single evening, which is a decent argument for making one you actually like looking at.
